Problems With Content aware fill Windows 10

I'm trying to use the content aware fill in After Effects to no avail, it either says there isn't enough memory available or simply shows a generic error when the analysation process reaches around 25-30%, I've cleaned, purged and emptied the database and the cache, and I've allocated 12.9GB of RAM to creative cloud programs.

Enclosed are my Specs, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I agree with @Rick Gerard here. Dividing the clip in few short clips if the duration is longer than a minute should work. Could you share more details?

  • What is the format and source of the footage you are working with?
  • What is the duration of the clip you are using content aware fill on.

Looking forward for a response.

Thanks,

Shivangi

Content Aware Fill works best on short clips that come from production formats. MP4 files can cause problems. Big masks, large frame size (UHD, 4K) and high frame rates tax the system geometrically. It's a great feature for a 10 second shot but pretty much impossible to use on a 20 minute interview.

The first thing I would do is set the RAM to 12 GB because most apps like an even multiple of 4 for ram. Then I would trim a shot to something like 7 seconds, make sure that you punch a small hole somewhere with a mask, then run the tool. If that fails try transcoding the shot to a production format or an image sequence and try again. If that still fails post a screenshot of the footage and describe the shot. Not all footage is suitable for CAF.
