Question

PSD layers offline after exporting

Hey all, recently I started getting the issue that PSD layers are offline after exporting them via media encoder. In After Effects they are perfectly linked, display well, and I can even CMD+E to edit them. Media Encoder also doesn't give any errors or notifications that there's a missing link.

I've already tried reinstalling After Effects, Media Encoder and Photoshop. All on the latest versions of 2021 (not 2022).

Anyone got a fix for me?

Without any specific info about the contents and the layer structure of the PSDs we really can't tell you much. In the past such issues used to be caused by odd layer names with special characters, layer names being too long or the layers nested inside multiple groups. This would result in the (virtual) file path getting too long and AE or AME not finding anything. another possible cause may relate to groups or stuff like smart objects using certain features like group masks or complex layer styles. Either way, really impossible to say without the technical details about your system, the PSD structure or even seemingly trivial stuff like where they are saved under what names.

Hi, all of the layers are either text layers or simple PNGs, no layer effects, literally as vanilla as it gets. Nothing complex in the names too.
