Question

PSDs not interpreting embedded profile by default

When I import PSDs into AE, the interpretation is not defaulting to the embedded profile, always to the working profile. Can anyone help me work out how to change this? If the PSD is sRGB, I want AE to respect that. Thanks

Thanks for reaching out, James.

Go to File menu > Project Settings > Color tab and change the Working Color Space to None.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

what does this solve? i'm currently working in the rec709gamma2.4 profile. what would changing the color space to none solve?

i think maybe this is all an ae bug. i think it is in fact interpreting it with the embedded profile, but that the interpret footage ui is showing the dropdown menu as if it's set to working color space, when in fact i think it is really set to embedded

This is the default behavior in After Effects. When you import media files, After Effects automatically applies color management by converting colors from the source media's color profile to match your project's working color space.

Hope it helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
