I also think that you have to program a real effect plugin in order to show/hide parameters. It is not possible with pseudo effects as far as I know.

I'm not aware of any way to do that with a pseudo effect. Even if there was a way, I think you'd have to do it via a script, so it wouldn't be automatic based on the state of another control.
