Puppet Tool - View video while dragging a pin?

Hey,

Just wondering about the, possibly very useful tool, the Puppet Tool.

I found out that there is a way to animate Puppet by pressing Ctrl key (windows) and moving my mouse accordingly, but the problem is that I can't see the background video which I want to sync the movment with.

So basiclly my qeustion is if it's possibale to view the background video (of another layer) while dragging one of the Puppet pins when pressing the Ctrl key?

Tnx

So maybe you know about some option to create such a thing?

I need to track some figures in my video and frame by frame will be too much work.

Maybe there is some Micro recording option or something?

Could you use the point tracker to track the elements in your reference video layer. Apply that track to a null object - and then parent the puppet pin to that null as suggested by Szalam.

The thing is that the figures (which I want to track) are too blurry so the tracker can't really track them correctly.

The Puppet tool was just an improvise to a solution for that (which didn't work obviously).

However, you can use Motion Sketch in AE to move a null object around and you can tie the puppet pin position to that null object's position.

even motion sketch won't let see a playback. it seems you can't record movement in Ae while seeing an animation or video as the background - only a still
