RAM preview issues

I've done everything under the sun to try and extend the amount of time that my RAM preview allows me to actually watch. I have changed my preview quality to third and I have even tampered with settings in preferences to give After Effects more allotted RAM to work with. It only gives me around 5 seconds, and usually is inconsistent with real-time, struggling to perfectly match up with the audio. I've never had this issue with older versions of CC and am curious if upgrading to CC 17 could be the issue.

Specs:

• 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7-3630QM CPU
• 12GB of 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM
• Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000

My graphics card has never been an issue in the past, so that shouldn't be a factor.
