Ram Preview plays back slowly after caching

I have a super annoying intermittent issue where my cached RAM preview will play back slowly; usually around 13 FPS.  This is once all frames are already cached.  Doesn't seem to matter how many frames are cached or the dimensions of the frames.  I have 64GB of RAM.  Don't believe I've seen this behavior prior to CC 2023 and can't seem to pinpoint what causes it.  Has anyone else seen similar issues?

I've seen similar behavior on and off for a long time, even before AE 2023. Do you by any chance have a lot of keyframes visible or waveform showing? These can be big performance killers. I've also found that setting an in/out can drastically improve performance even if the entire timeline appears to be cached. If none of these options help (actually, even if they do), I'd recommend filing a bug so the AE team can take a look. The more people that can provide preproducible projects or steps, the more likely the team can track down these bottlenecks.
