Question

Random audio pop a few seconds into video when exported via media encoder

Hello, sometimes when I finish rendering the video and watch it to see if everything seems okay, there would be an audio pop round a few seconds into the video, but the rest of the audio is fine. In the original source audio, there is no pop, the volume levels are fine (only just hitting the yellow area), and so on. I export the audio using AAC (the same as source audio), 320kbps, 48000 hz, which is exactly the same as my source audio. I have also tried making the first few seconds of the audio fade in, as apparently that can help, but I'm still encountering a random pop five seconds into the video. I'm guessing this is a bug, as my levels and everything else are fine.

Just a longshot:

Try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the audio in your export.

Compressed audio formats sometimes work well for reference inside of After Effects, but then don't hold up to being recompressed when exporting.

Try converting the AAC source audio file being used in After Effects to a linear PCM WAV or AIF outside of After Effects.  Check the resulting WAV or AIF for sound quality and assuming that there is nothing unexpected, selecct the AAC file in After Effects and use File > Replace Footage to swap it out.

Another thing to double-check is that your audio is stored locally and not on network storage.

Thank you, I'll try this. Originally, a was converting the audio to WAV, but changed it to AAC so it matches the export audio settings in Media Encoder, thinking it would mean it isn't having to compress it as much. I'll definitely try out what you said though and see if it stops the random pop a few seconds into the video.
