Random expression not syncing across the linked layers HELP NEEDED

Question

hi, im new to AE but im trying to animate a neon sign and im using this guide:

and it seems like every layer is random but independent, so idk what im doing wrong, i also wanna adjust how long it flickers for like randomly but like between a timeframe set by me.

Im gonna export this to premiere, idk how that will function

The easiest thing to do is to use one random expression, then tie the other layer's properties to the property with the random expression with a pickwhip instead of another random expression.

If that does not solve your problem, we need a time reference to the tutorial and screenshots (drag them to the reply field instead of using the Drag and Drop button so we can see them) showing the layer structure and properties you are having problems with.
