Reducing black lines and spots on After Effects cartoon effect

I love how simple and easy it is to apply the cartoon effect in After Effects (Effect > Stylize > Cartoon).

One comment that I've received so far regarding a Web series I'm developing www.CaddieTales.com is there seems to be too many black lines or black spots on the cartoonized videos - any suggestions on how to reduce this?

Try doing some color correction before you apply the Cartoon effect, then make sure you understand exactly what the Cartoon effects is using to generate the lines.

It would really help to see a problematic shot with the modified settings of the layer giving you problems. UU will show everything you changed on the layer.

Thanks Rick for your tips regarding color correction - will try that and see how it may change the Cartoon effect.
