Refine Soft Matte locking up after effects

Recently noticed that anytime I use this effect it locks up my composition and then will grey the composition window out so I am not able to see any of the project anymore. All the other compositions wont render in anymore, cant hide/ reveal layers. Needs a restart, clearing the cache doesnt help.

Anyone know whats going on? Cheers
