Replacing *multiple* aep-clips in Premiere Pro with one AE composition (dynamic linking)?

I have replaced several clips in my Premierre Pro (v22.1.1) sequence with AE compositions, resulting in a timeline with multiple, sequential, *.aep files in separate layers (all executed via dynamic linking; AE v22.1.1). As a next step, I wanted to replace these multiple *.aep compositions by one new, smooth AE composition - more in particular to implement some additional transitions between each of the .aep-files. Unfortunately, the selection of multiple *.aep files is causing a rainbow test screen within AE. Anybody experiencing the same and having the solution or magic turnaround?
