Question

Resizing an image in After Effects

I want to select the exact pixel measurements that I want to resize an image to. I know I could do this in PS, but I'm wondering about AE. Yes, I could maybe position rulers a certain way and snap my image to those, but I'm even having trouble with snapping (which is a discussion that can wait). Snap to comp isn't quite what I'm looking for, either. Doing the arithmetic for the exact dimensions to scale it to isn't either. There may be an effect/preset for this, but I think, for what I want, that is a bit overkill. I just want to select the exact pixel dimensions that an image transforms to once it is already in my AE project. If it's possible I would like to know, because I'm not finding any info on this anywhere. Thanks!

You could click drag the image to the comp icon to create a comp with the exact size of the image. After wards, use scripts > demo palete > scale composition to the size you want. The contents of the comp will be scaled accordingly.

I can only think of workarounds using AE, therefore I would do the sizing in PS. You can create an action or use the image processor to batch resize all your images on the fly.

In AE, I would create a comp in the desired size and make the image fit perfectly to this comp. As an alternative, you can create a shape layer with a rectange, enter the exact pixel size and fit the image to the rectangle.
