RESOLVED! MediaCore plugins failed to install. MacOS Big Sur

About 3 days ago I started receiving a message that the MediaCore plugins were not loading. I lost most of my access to After Effects.

Today, on a whim, I decided to try something and it has worked perfectly.

  1. Quit After Effects
  2. Navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore
  3. Move (not copy) the MediaCore folder to your desktop
  4. Rename to MediaCore_Original
  5. Duplicate the folder and remove the _Original from the name.
  6. Hit Command+Shift+. to show invisible files. In my case, the invisible files did NOT copy from the _Original folder.
  7. Move the invisible files to the new folder
  8. Move the MediaCore folder back to it's original location
  9. Start up AfterEffects.

Hope this works for others. It was a nightmare for me.

Hi,

What if I cannot find the MediaCore folder on my macbook?

did you test the latest update, AE 17.5.1 and ME 14.6? on Big Sur?

Yes. Both were working fine until I randomly got the error.

Both are working fine now.

Welcome to the community and thanks for sharing, jonmfarmer.

Which version of After Effects are you using?

Thanks,

Rameez
