roto brush looses its render as it renders

So - I'm new to the roto brush and am having an issue.  As my 20 second clup renders, the render behind the playhead gets lost - meaning at say the 10 second mark, everything the green line behind will disappear.  This continues to happen as the playhead moves on.

Any sugestions as to what could be casuing this?

OK, after more investigation and more learning, I don't think it was being lost, it was just no longer cached.  When I froze it it froze properly.

Thanks for the response.

I have similar problem and that my render only keeps the render for four seconds as the green line moves on four seconds behind disappears. I can render and freeze a four second clip but I can't render/freeze anything longer than that. I thought maybe it had to do with the memory of my cache but it doesn't seem to be the case. I have a feeling it's something to do with memory but I can't figure it out.

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble.

When you are done with the Roto Brush in the Layer panel, are you licking the "Freeze" button at the lower left before continuing to do anything else in After Effects?

After Effects User Guide > Drawing, Painting, and Paths > Roto Brush and Refine Matte
