Roto brush not working middle clip

Question

Good day

I'm using AE 2025 with Roto brush 3.0.

No matter which clip I select, if I use Roto at the beginning of the clip, it works fine, if I start my roto at, let's say 2 seconds, it selects the entire video / layer. AFAIK it is possible to start roto in the middle of the clip and not just at the beginning, or am I missing something here?

The proper workflow for using Rotobrush is to trim or cut up the layer so it only includes the part that needs the matte, then pre-compose, making sure that you move all attributes and trim the pre-comp to the layer length. Then, you select the Trimmed (and, if needed, color corrected to improve edge detail) pre-comp, choose Layer/Open Layer Menu, and apply Rotobrush. I almost always correct some color before pre-composing, and I never run Rotobrush on a trimmed footage layer. It's always a trimmed pre-comp.
