Rotobrush 3 is for a lack of a better word crap

I'm not sure if anyone else has found this, but ever since adobe 2024 has dropped the rotobrush tool has just become useless, it's ability to recognise consistencies within footage is completely shot, even masking stuff with blatant contrast from its backdrop has become a challenge. I then changed the tool back to rotobrush 2 in its settings and bang, back to the good old days of relatively intuitive masking, just wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if this is a universal issue

I can't even effectively roto a green cartoon character from a red background. It's garbage, like everything else Adobe makes. Just one misrable failure after another.

I'm seeing the opposite on the Mac side. I just ran a test on some very flat footage. Propagation, fine-tuning, and freezing took half the time. I picked some flat Pro-rez, 10-bit footage shot at dusk, did no color correction, and a similar background. I sped up the process, but this matte looks pretty good on footage I didn't expect to work at all.

M2 Max MacBook Pro, Ventura 13.5.2

If I color correct the footage first, pre-compose, and then run Rotobrush 3, the results are even better, and there is less fiddling with the refine tools in the Effects Control Panel.

Since these issues are widely reported you're presumably not doing anything wrong. RB 3 just is that dumb. It's probably the old gag of pushing out features prematurely so you can market them with fancy buzzwords like AI when they're far from primetime ready. Nothing new in Adobe land.
