Rotobrush only part of the clip

Question

Hi,

I have a 20 second clip, where object (child) is moving only about a second.

I'm trying to apply rotobrush, so that later I can change background.

But rotobrush propagates to all frames. The part I need have about 20 frames.

Rotobrush starts to propagate to all 180 or 200 frames.

How can I apply rotobrush to only part that I need?

Set the CTI (current time indicator) to the frame that you want to use as the first frame
Shift + Ctrl/Cmnd + d to split the layer
Move to the last frame you need and repeat the process
Select the layer you want to Rotobrush and Pre-compose moving all attributes and trimming the comp to the layer length
Use the Layer/Open menu to open the Pre-comp in the Layer Panel
Apply Rotobrush

This is the workflow you should always follow. It allows you to apply temporary color correction inside the Precomp if needed to improve edge contrast and detail, then remove it. It limits Rotobrush to only the frames that you need. It allows you to Pre-compose the "Roto" layer again and use the Composition/Pre-render menu if Rotobrush takes a long time to improve project stability and drastically shorten the final render time of the project.
