Question

rotos

I am trying to do some very tedious roto work removing tracking markers on greenscreen. Even though my setting for Mask Feather is set to zero, there is a few pixel feathering that exists, making it hard to really do an accurate roto. Any ideas what I am missing here?

Have you fiddled with the controls in the Rotobrush Effects Controls panel? You can change the feathering, shift edge, reduce chatter, refine edges, and do a lot more. If Rotobrush will propagate before you do any. masking, you should be able to make a clean selection of the problem area. You can even apply multiple copies of Rotobrush to the same layer. I do it all the time.

Here’s a section of one of your screenshots with some modifications.

Yes, the problem in this case is she moves behind a chair that Rotobrush does not do a good job with as far as chattering goes. Thanks

Show us a screenshot. There are often a lot easier ways to remove tracking marks from greenscreen projects than rotoscoping or Rotobrush. I may be able to give you some more efficient workflows.

I will send screenshots to nishu below, but would love to know some other ways to remove stubborn tracking marks. Have not been able to find any tutorials.

    Thanks for reaching out, @mgr0704,

I think I understand what you’re running into. Just to clarify, are you working with Roto Brush / rotoscoping in After Effects, or is this happening with masks? A screenshot that shows the problem would be helpful to understand the issue.

In general, if you’re working with Roto Brush, using the Refine Edge tool usually gives the best results, especially for complex subjects and motion. Also, you can try the new Object Selection (powered by AI) in the latest beta version of After Effects. Here’s how you can install beta version: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/x-productkb/global/creative-cloud-beta.html

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Nishu

Using masks. Acts like there is a few pixel feathering happening.

I need to see a shot without keylight applied. That’s when you start removing tracking marks.
