Save to Photoshop layers is kinda pathetic, isn't it?
How is it that "Save to Photoshop Layers" works so incredibly badly? I have never really found this feature to be remotely useful, ALWAYS getting some error that "blending modes aren't supported" or matte problem or some other nitpick.
What is really mindblowing though is that it should be possible to set up ANY project to render to PShop layers in some form or other, even if it means losing editability. But it seems like it simply is not.
I don't expect it to be able to output live layers with Ae specific effects kept on them (although would it be too much to ask for the ability to bake down at LEAST some basic mattes?). What I DO expect is that if I set up my comps so that the output I'm trying to pipe to PShop has ALL effects, mattes etc UPSTREAM of this comp, then THIS SHOULD WORK.
Any effects or matte calculations should be made upstream of the output, inside of After Effects. All this "Save to PShop Layers" feature should have to do is then output the final pixel results of the entire project at the output point. It shouldn't even KNOW about any upstream effects, mattes etc.
Seems like this feature is only any use if you have nothing more than a stack of raw layers. That being the case, it's essentially a complete lemon.
