ScriptUI buttons back to rectangular ?

OK, this is odd.

I uninstalled and re-installed ESTK CC (4.4.5) and now the scriptUI buttons in my dockable panels in After Effects have gone back to being rectangular. I thought it was a 'use legacy UI" thing but that just changes the colour and outline of the button, which are still rectangular whichever you choose...

any ideas ?
