Selecting Entire Composition Instead of Layer

Question

For some reason, every time I select a shape object, the entire composition is selected, instead just the shape. It also doesn't "auto select" each layer like it normally would. I have another composition open and it selects the shape objects just fine. I'm not sure if I accidentally changed something or not. Even when I select "Composition - Retain Layer Sizes", it doesn't work. The first image is the issue. The second image is what I want.

We can get it checked.What happens if you select the layer from the Timeline panel? Do you still get the issue?
