Shadow layers changed to white after importing to After Effects

Wanted to import a project from illustrator to after effects and imported as a composition with retain layer sizes option selected. Saw my shadows had changed to white instead of black. Some help would be deeply appreciated!

If you are using Blending modes like Multiply, you need to reinstate them. Otherwise it's hard to say what you actually did since you didn't include the Transparency and Appearance palettes in your AI screenshot with one of the relevant layers selected.
