Shape layer split off

Question

Im making some mapping in after effects and i have a encirclment here. However when i connect up my two fronts and split off the blue group theres a line between the two since the shapelayers have to connect. How do i stop this?

Yeah, agree with Rick. Your workflow makes no sense. There's no reason for anything to actually be connected as long as the visual result is the same. All that matteres is the order of the individual shapes and possibly using Merge Path operators to fuse them together. You may want to study a tutorial and read the online help.
