Shape layers from Phtoshop dont import into AE

Question

notice how the one from PS, has white outline around the car pics and the small pic of the suit and tie in the bottom next to the arrows?

these are clipping masks in PS do clipping mask layers not import over to ae? anyway to get them over? thanks!

Clipping masks get converted to masks in AE when the PSD document is imported as composition. Otherwise no. So whatever issue you have with your docs probably has to do with that and/ or appearance changing with editable layer styles if and when the masks are lost. Impossible to say since you haven't offered any specific info on the structure of your PSD and what stuff you use. Screenshots of the layer palette and converted AE timeline with expanded properties would likely clarify matters and immediately reveal the culprit.
