Snake Animation Problem

Hi, so I need to animate a scribble style snake for a music video for my highschool final exam. My teacher advised us to draw 8 similar straight snakes in a psd-file (a layer for each one).  I did that. Where do I go from there, if I want the snake to kind of meander around the frame? My teacher talked about some kind of skeleton animation, but I cannot recall it perfectly or figure out how to do it?
