Question

Source property for images - defining from CSV? Is it possible?

I want to swap out a particular key image (and some text) in my composition based on a imported CSV file.  I've had no problem setting the source text to read from the csv file but there seems to be no obvious way to replace a default image based on an image reference from within the CSV.   In fact I can't even see how to add any expressions to the image at all (other than transforms).

In summary:

I want my 'default.png' to be replaced with whatever png image I specify in a field within my CSV file.

Is it possible?

That's not possible due to how AE works. Expressions can't manipulate project items or for that matter more specificalyl any itme outside their property stream. What you wan't can't be done. All your images will already have to be imported in the project and added to the comp where than you can manipulate their opacity to show/ hide them or do fancier stuff like referencing them in other effects like Simple Composite to make the image content show up on another layer by ways of compositing functions.
