specific keyboard shortcut suddenly stopped working

HiI was using alt+é (number 2, not on the numpad) to "trim layer out". Until today, it worked fine.Now, suddenly, it won't work anymore. I've removed the shortcut, but AE won't let me re-map it. "Alt" is highlighted, but "é" doesn't show.I've tried mapping it to Ctrl-é, and it works.I've tried a keyboard tester, and Alt-é works.So, clearly, it's an issue whithin AE. Any idea?

In what language is é even a valid default key? You left out a lot of info, beginning with system info and critical stuff like the language settings. That aside of course the first thing to do would be to check those things and also make sure the inputs aren't intercepted/ usurped by another app like soem messenger or video chat running in the background. Anything beyond that will require much more information.
