Question

Squash and stretch animation with Duik Character Rig

I have a very simple character rigged with Duik. It's a character that consists of a circle (as body and head) and sticks for hands and feet. I would like to add squash and stretch animation to the body/head, when the character moves as it makes it look so much more organic and fun.

I tried this by transforming the scale of the body and adding/animating the warp effect. It looks very smooth. However trouble appears because when the body stretches or squashes, the hands and the legs (a bit less though) look unattached to the body. I have used puppet tool/bones for the rig and the original artwork of the hands and feet are shape layers.

I even tried to create an animation of the hand's shape path when the stretch/squash happens but this proves impossible as the hand starts to look distorted. This happens as the path animation seems to not follow the layer's position.

Has anyone achieved to add Squash and Stretch to their Duik rigged character animation? Should I be looking at alternative software/plug-ins? Any suggestions much appreciated:)
