Stabilise motion failing

Hi there. First time poster here.

With the rising popularity in these hyperlapse videos, I decided to try it out.

I have my image sequence imported and in a comp. I click stabilise motion and the tracker comes up, which I great. I have used many times without fail.

I set the tracker point and adjust the boxes and advance a frame, but the tracker moves all over the place.

the images are gif res, and I'm selecting a high contrast point in the frame. I have tried rendering the image sequence into a video and bringing that in, but the same thing happens.

Traking works with other videos just fine, but for some reason doesn't seem to want to track and stabilise the motion of a hyperlapse 😞

What am I doing wrong here ?! Is there an option in the tracker that I'm messing up or something?

please help!

A hyperlapse basically has no real motion. It is kind of inevitable that a tracker will have trpouble latching on to that because the patterns change way too much across frames. You may have to fiddle with the settings for the search region, what channels to track, pattern adaptation and so on. Impossible to pin it down with seeing your footage and your actual track settings.
