Question

Stabilising and Speed Ramping

I've used Premiere for some years, and know that Nesting was always the way round this. But I'm new to AE.
After stabilising (smooth motion), I want to do Time remapping. What's the best way? I can enable Time Remapping after I've deleted the Trackers, so just the handle location is changing with the generated keyframes.

If I do it in this way, it seems the keyframes don't get time-remapped, so are all out of synch,

What's the best approach? Should I stabilise and then pre-render? I'd prefer not to do the speed ramps first, and they're what I'd like to play around with.

Thanks, and apologies if this is a dumb question, but I'm only two days into what's obviously a very powerful programme, and I have searched!

When intending to Time Remap after applying one of the Tracker Panel's features, it's best to pre-render the result and then use the resultant movie for Time Remapping.

Thanks Roland, that was what I came up with but it felt a bit inefficient, I thought there might be a less cumbersome way.

And would you suggest also pre-rendering as a lossless AVI to get it back into PP? I thought I could import the AE project file, but I'm getting an error regarding 'CC Force Motion Blur' which I have in the AE project.

If you want to get granular, the basic Motion Tracking features are OK with a process of Tracking followed by Nesting and then Time Remapping. It's when using the Warp Stabilzer and Camera Tracker where this procedure will break. The Warp Stabilizer and Camera Tracker creates data that becomes resident with the AEP. This resident data is required/calculated/computed whenever the effected footage is processed within AE.Applying Time Remap along the render pipeline forces the Time Remap feature to be calculated prior to the aforementioned advanced features. This of course breaks down the entire piepeline.

An ideal mezzanine CODEC would be one of high quality. QuickTime is preferred to AVI for its better color fidelity. Apple ProRes 4444 (without Alpha) or 422HQ (if storage space is at a premium) are ideal candidates.

On your CC Force Motion Blur error, you'll have to provide more info by providing Timeline, Effects Control Panel and Comp Panel screen grabs.
