After Effects Tutorial: Stroke Logo Reveal Outline Effect - YouTube

I'm trying to follow this tutorial. I get stuck on making the strokes work. At about the 1:40 mark i follow what he does and move the ruler and set the start time at the same time. But, then I try to move the time ruler marker to 0s like it is in the video but Ii notice that the markers in the video (Idk what they are called but I circled them in the three photos) move unlike his which stay at the place he originally put them at and changed the time.

I think this is why my strokes just stay and don't animate unlike in the video.

Anyone know a fix?

First, vet your trainers. That is an awful tutorial. To learn how to apply the Stroke effect type Stroke in the search help field in the top right corner of After Effects and check out the help files.

When you look for tutorials make sure that you figure out who is presenting them. More than half the tutorials on YouTube are by amateurs and they teach ineffective workflows and don't explain anything.

When you are having problems with a comp, select the layer giving you problems, press the U key twice to reveal all modified properties of the layer, PrintScreen then paste to the forum or drag screenshots to the forum. We can see what you are trying to do and it's a lot easier than sharing files you post on other sites.

The Effect>Generate>Stroke effect requires you to keyframe either the Start, End or both of these props, in order to animate the stroke along one or more Masks. Your screen cap shows this is not the case. In fact your screen cap shows you keyframing the Mask Paths instead - this is obviously not the way this tutorial was set up to work nor how most folks use the Stroke effect to animate its effect along masks. HTH.
