Suddenly preview playback not possible anymore

Hi there, I' using AE 18.4.1
The program runs fine at first, but suddenly I can no longer preview the project or individual videos. When pressing the space bar, the playback changes to play, but nothing happens. The green loading bar loads and renders, finally everything is green, but the preview does not run.
When I try to close the program in this state, it freeze..
If I restart it, everything runs fine again.
Does anyone have any ideas? Install older version?

Sorry for your issue.

If suggestions provided by the expert doesn't help, try disabling "Hardware Accelerated Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels" under After Effects Preferences > Display.

Try changing the video rendering & playBack to "mercury playback engine Software only"

Go to File > Project settings > General > Video Rendering & PlayBack > Change to mercury playback engine Software only.

Try resetting the preferences of the After effects as follow -

Press Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) while launching After Effects. You can release the Alt key or Option key when the splash screen appears.
