Switch to relative file paths in Project panel?

I'm using AE 2018 on Windows 7 (dual 18-core, 128 GB RAM) and I have project that crashes every time I attempt to re-link the missing files.  It's a very large project that I was working on at another location, and now it that it's on a different drive, it can't find any of the files.  So, I'm wondering if there's a way to do either of the following:
1 - Switch the absolute file paths to relative paths (in which case all the files will load, because they're all there in correct relative file structure).
2 - Prevent AE from trying import all the files at once when it see them.  If I could re-link one folder at a time, it probably wouldn't crash.  But as it is, when I try to replace one file, it sees all the other 500 files and tries to resolve them all, and it crashes.
3 - Or any other solutions that any one might know.  Any suggestions are appreciated! Thank you!

Correct answer Roland Kahlenberg

Place an "x" as a prefix for the names of folders you'd like to re-link later. Remove the "x" prefix when required.

And no, there is no way to perform procedural re-linking; AE does it all at one go.

Roland, thank you!  Now that you say it, it's so simple, but that didn't even occur to me
