Hi, I am duplicating comp templates based on precomposed text - I am pretty sure there is an expression that would help me to update/connect text precomps for new compositions, instead of manually duplicating them and swapping layer precomps?

Using the Essential Graphics Panel with Essential Properties is one option you can do directly in AE. Essential Properties were previously known as master properties. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07mxHxEei3M

Hi marijka3,

Welcome to the Community.

I agree with Rick. I'd appreciate if you could add your vote to the feature request post on the After Effects UserVoice: https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911311-after-effects/suggestions/37031584-independent-composition-duplication

Let us know if there are any other questions.

Thanks,

Nishu

True Comp Duplicator - aescripts + aeplugins - aescripts.com

That's the easiest solution. You can't do it with an expression, you need a script.
