The audio inside my project keeps suddenly skipping ahead by half a second during preview

Title says it all. Can someone help me please? I just upgraded to a new PC. It has a good cpu and 16 gigs of ram, so this shouldn't be an issue.

The wave files I drop into the project will play fine when I play them from the beginning of the track, but if I want to play from, say, 10 seconds in, the audio will skip ahead by half a second when it reaches 14 seconds. I can't work with this, can someone pleeease help? I tried Googling for a solution, and I'm really at a loss for what to do 😕😕 Thanks so much!

SOLVED: I was using the wrong audio driver. I set it to ASIO and now it works. Leaving this here in hope that it will help someone else some day. Woopee!
