Question

The "grid" effect on adjustment layer has a background that covers the entire footage

To be honest, I don't understand at all what happened. Everything used to work fine.

The "grid" effect was superimposed on top when added to an additional layer, but did not overlap the lower layers. Now the grid has a background and it cannot be removed either by changes in the render and composition settings or by overlay effects.

Please tell me what can be done?

Adjustment Layers apply the effect to all layers below it. Grid has blending modes at the bottom of the Effects Control Panel. Set the mode to Normal; you will see the layers below the adjustment layer. Experiment with the Blending modes to get a different color mix between the grid lines and the layers below.

Don't apply an effect to an adjustment layer if you don't want it to modify every layer below it. Just about the only time I use an adjustment layer in a composition is when I need overall color correction for all of the layers. They are not much good for anything but that.

Hey Nikolay,

Sorry for the issue. I want to confirm if I understand the problem correctly. When you add the Grid effect to a layer, the layer and the subsequent layers underneath it disappear. Is that correct?

Thanks,

Ishan
