There are two problems I don't know how to solve:
Hello friends, I am an Adobe user from China, sorry for my bad English, I can only use Google Translate for help. Recently, I discovered 3 headaches at work.
Machine configuration: (CPU 13900K) (RTX4080) (M2990PRO) (DDR5 64G) (ROGZ790Hero)
Version used: After Effects 2023-23.6.0

Question 1: When there are many Comps in the project, the progress bar will occasionally get stuck at 99% when rendering output and cannot be operated. In fact, the content has been output to the computer, there is no problem, but the rendering window will be stuck at 99% and cannot be operated, and clicking stop or pause has no effect, so we have to use the task manager to close AE and reopen it. This problem happens from time to time, but not when the projects are small and relatively few.

Problem 2: After clearing the AE cache or operating part of AE, the compositing window displays a black screen. In any case, refreshing or changing Mercury GPU accelerated (CUDA) and Mercury-only software didn't help, not even turning AE back on. I confirm that the material is ok, which is preventing me from working. I can only restart the computer and open AE.

Problem 3 (less important): When using AE to import Media Encoder for transcoding, occasionally the "source is empty" window pops up, causing my AEComp to fail to import AME for transcoding.

I've searched the web for these 3 problems but haven't found a solution. I hope friends here can help me, thank you.

Correct answer ShiveringCactus
  1. If you are rendering using Adobe Media Encoder, try force quitting After Effects in the Task Manager.  AE will return, but take up less RAM allocation.
  2. Black screens are associated with GPU issues.  Have you tried restarting your computer?
  3. I've not experience this issue, but try rendering out an image sequence from AE.  This isn't ideal, but gets your renders done.

These problems are not fatal. They only occur occasionally and can be solved by restarting the computer or restarting the software.
Thanks for your guidance.

Would you also reset your preferences?

The simmple answer is that you need to spend time straightening out your graphics driver and GPU. Really nothing mysterious to it. From voltage issues to the driver crashing because the VRAM is clogged up this could be anything.
