Tie CC Spotlight "To" value to the rotation of an object?

I'm kind of new to After Effects, but I've written an expression or two and used a null object here or there. I'm expecting this would require one or both of those, if it is even possible.

I want to create the effect of a moving spotlight. I have a graphic of a spotlight and an adjustment layer with cc spotlight applied. I can do this manually, but there is a lag between the rotation of the spotlight and that "light" from cc spotlight, so I'm wondering if linking them somehow is possible and if it would fix it.

I've attached a GIF to show what I'm trying to do.

Anybody know how to make this work? I'm open to other solutions as well.

First, I'd recomend creating a Solid layer and putting the CC Spotlight effect on that instead of an adjustment layer. Then set "Render" to Light Only. Using an adjustment layer is essentially the same as putting the CC Spotlight effect directly on your "spotlight graphic"  layer.

Go to a frame in the comp where the spotlight graphic rotation is set to 0. Once you have your Solid layer setup with the CC spotlight effect, move the "From" point to the center of the spotlight graphic, and move the "To" point to the opposite side of the frame in the direction that the spotlight graphic is pointing. Then go to the Parent & Link dropdown on the Solid layer and choose the spotlight graphic as the parent layer. Now the solid layer will simply follow the rotation of the spotlight graphic and you're done.

Last thing, you'll notice the edges of the Spotlight effect get cut off at the edge of the Solid layer. to fix this, add a Grow Bounds effect to the Solid layer, and place it above the CC Spotlight effect in the Effect Controls panel. Then just increase the Pixels value of the grow bounds effect as needed until you can no longer see the light being cut off.

This worked and was a much easier solution. I was definitely overthinking it. Thank you!
