You can send this to Adobe Support:

Hello Adobe Support,

I am facing repeated crashes in Adobe After Effects during normal editing and especially while working with heavier compositions, 3D camera, and Element 3D. The application suddenly closes without any warning or error popup.

I already performed several troubleshooting steps:

  • Reinstalled NVIDIA Studio Driver using DDU clean uninstall
  • Checked RAM using Windows Memory Diagnostic (no errors found)
  • Checked CPU/GPU temperatures and voltages (normal)
  • Cleared media and disk cache
  • Reset After Effects preferences
  • Tested GPU acceleration settings
  • Reinstalled GPU drivers cleanly

The entire PC is now stable, but only After Effects crashes suddenly during use.

Crash log message shown:
“After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was:
<16796>  <5> CenterAnchorToContentBounds
TimestampGetNext
NIM_SetStreamFPV(2)”

The crashes happen more often during:

  • 3D scenes
  • Element 3D usage
  • heavier compositions
  • preview/rendering

Please help identify whether this is related to:

  • media decoding
  • GPU acceleration
  • plugin compatibility
  • cache/database corruption
  • codec issues
  • or another known After Effects issue.

Thank you.

    Hi Manui,

Sorry to hear about the crash and thanks for writing in. Do you mind sharing a few more details:

    • What are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version)?

    • Is it crashing only when the Element 3D is used in the project? Can you test it without using the plug-in?

    • Please share the crash report here. It'll be really helpful to understand what's happening.

    Let me know.

    Thanks,

    Nishu

You can send this to Adobe support or post it on forums:

I have tested After Effects versions 2024, 2025, and 2026, and all of them keep crashing during normal use. Even when I am doing simple work, After Effects suddenly crashes after around 1 minute or more. The application closes by itself and shows different error messages almost every time.

I also tested After Effects without any plugins installed, including without Element 3D, but the crashes still happen. I already contacted Adobe technicians, but they were not able to help me solve the problem.

    My PC specifications are:

    • CPU: Intel Core i9-14900KS

    • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti

    • RAM: 64GB

    • OS: Windows 11 Pro Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.8457)

I do not understand why this keeps happening even after paying for Adobe software. A lot of my work is currently pending because After Effects is too unstable to use properly.

Please help me find a permanent solution.

Thanks for getting back and sharing the details. This is not the crash report we’re looking for.

Do you get a crash reporter right after the crash? If yes, please provide your email id to it and submit the report. Let me know once done. If there’s no crash report, here’s how you can collect the crash log and share:

    1. Start AE
    2. Help Menu > Enable Logging
    3. Restart AE
    4. Work until AE crashes
    5. Relaunch Ae and go to Help Menu > Reveal Logging Files...
    6. Find the "After Effects Log.txt" file and copy/paste the content back to this forum thread.

    Looking forward.

    Thanks,

    Nishu
