Transform Controls are gone

As you can see in the image, there are no transform controls. I am using AE for years, but i have no clue what this could cause.
This is the latest version of AE, but it appeared also in the previous version.

What to do? Any suggestions?

right click on your timeline column headers and turn on switches. They fall under that.
