Trouble opening Adobe After Effects

Hi, I have recently updated myAdobe account to include After Effects. I am having trouble opening the program. When I try , I get an "unexpected failure during application startup" error message. Can you help me resolve this issue, please.

reset your preferences, http://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/preferences.html

if that fails and you used the cc desktop app to install ae, proceed to step 1.

if you did not use the cc desktop app to install ae, repost your os info before doing anything else.

1. uninstall ae including preferences, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html
2. check for, and if available, update your os
3. repair all ms visual c++ versions that can be repaired.
4. update your ms visual c++, if it can be updated
5. restart your computer (don't skip this)
6. reinstall ae using the cc desktop app
