Question

Trouble Opening Project from PC on a Mac

I am having the hardest time opening any projects that come from coworkers that were created on their PC's on my iMac or MacBook Pro. Nothing I do seems to work. I have been trying to open one project for almost a day, and it's only 11MB. What's causing the problem? Is there a way to fix it? We're all running the same version of AE. Please help!!!

Are you sure that your version of AE is the same or higher than what your coworkers gave you? That may be the reason.

check if they are all using collect files

not sure about the real problem, but if they do not collect files,

you will encounter lot of missing and offline stuff

Not meaning to contribute to the swath of useless blahblah, but yes, as the others already said, you have to tell us what actually is going on in the project and provide exact information about AE versions, system info and al lthat juicy stuff.

Why is watermelon?

No details = no answers.

What, specifically, happens when you try to open one of the projects?

Do you get an error message?  Does it crash?

Please explain the problem in detail, and also tell us the specifics of which AE version you are using, and the specs of your computer.

Something's up that needs closer attention.  As long as they're the same version or one is older, the AEP should open.  Fonts and 3rd party effects are usually the challenge when working cross platform.

Are they truly the same version? Or are they slightly different (fractional updates)?

Check the suffix to see if something changed from PC.
