Trying to create an animation that includes video clips

I think I've asked similar questions here before but I'm obviously not getting it. I want to build an animation to demonstrate how some software works. I'd like to insert screen capture clips of the actual software at key points. Can that be done in Animate? I can make my screen captures into either animated gifs or MP4s. I tried both - importing an animated gif turns each frame into a keyframe (but maybe that's ok?). Importing an MP4 - it says you can't export those - does that also mean you can't publish it with the MP4s?

I will need a bunch of small movies - maybe 10 - but each will only be 15 - 30 seconds long.

Thanks for any/all help.

If you really mean Animate, you're in the wrong forum, but yes, animate isn't great on dealing with pre-made clips and images due to how its keyframing system is based on a dopesheet that operates on a frame-by-frame basis as opposed to "fluid" time like AE does.

Ok thanks. So I'd have to learn After Effects and I could do the whole thing there? I have AE - and used it many years ago - but there would be a learning curve at this point. Can I do animations in AE? Is there one program where I can do both?

Anyway, thanks. You've saved me some time trying to figure out how to do it in Animate.
