Unable to open old after effects files after update

Hello! So ever since I updated to the latest version of AE, I am unable to open old files, created on the previous version. Instead I get this error. I need to be able to access those files! How can we fix this???

Generally it would tell me that the file was created using a previous verion, and needed to be updated to the current version... No more of that. Just this SUPER FRUSTRATING error
