Question

Unable to work on clips keyed with composite brush

Hi everyone,

I'm new to After Effects so I apologise if there's a simple answer to this. My friend and I are working on a project that involves keying out a green screen, replacing the background and adding a faint outer glow to the actors. We decided to split the workload. I do the keying and he applies the effects. I purchased the composite brush plugin as Keylight just wasn't eliminating all the green due to poor lighting and it's worked very well. However, when I gave him the project file that included all the keyed-out clips, they show up as unedited simply because he doesn't have composite brush installed on his end. This is an issue as there are about 50 clips that need the outer glow applied and the background replaced and we won't want to spend more time rotoscoping / masking out the actors instead.

I know one solution would be for him to just purchase the composite brush but that's an expensive purchase for a tool he won't be using. I'm hoping there is a cheaper / easier workaround.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

You simply have to pre-render your work and reimport and replace the clips/ image sequences. Working with intermediate files and proxies is a common thing, as even big VFX facilities don't necessarily have all the same software and plug-ins on every machine. Refer to these:
