There are some "undulation" presets somewhere that I know off, but none of that is standard AE stuff. You have to download it from third-party sites. And there is indeed no such effect anywhere. Whatever you are referring to is something else.

I don't recall Undulation was ever a standard distorion effect, maybe there is a third party effect with that name.

You clould try the Wave Warp or Ripple effect, maybe those will do the job?
