Unwanted black stroke on text when using AE comp in Premiere

Hi there.

I've created a lower third/super in After Effects, for a video edited in Premiere. So within AE, the text and while logo have no stroke whatsoever, yet when I drag the comp from AE into Premiere and layer over my footage, it now has a thin black stroke around the text and the white logo.

I tried exporting the video out to see if it was potentially just an issue with playback in Premiere, but it renders out like this too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks both.

The issue was that I'd actually placed the AE comp on the Premiere timeline underneath an adjustment layer that included some sharpening, which was creating the unfortunate black stroke.

Fixed by placing AE comp above adjustment layer within Premiere.

Check the character panel and make sure you have not applied a stroke to the text. You should also check the modified properties of all the layers in your comp.  do this by pressing the u key twice.

This is not normal and that was a very high likelihood that it is user error.

Hi jford-tj,

Can you share screenshots exhibiting the issue?

Which versions of After Effects & Premiere Pro are you using?

I can't replicate the same behavior on my Windows 10 computer. Which OS are you on?

Try these:

  • Enable/disable High Quality Playback from the Source/Program monitor settings in Premiere Pro
  • Change the video renderer in Premiere Pro to software only under File > Project Settings > General

Let us know if this helps.
