Hi,

I have been experimenting with puppet pins as I am newbie with AE and this is my first time with puppet pin tool. I followed this tutorial  Puppet Animation in After Effects - Tutorial - YouTube . The problem is the pins won't follow the shape when I am say, trying to move the position of that layer . I am using layer shape which consists of 4 groups as contents . It looks like as if the pins are locked to that one location. I tried to imported the same shape as PNG the second time, it works without any issue. The youtuber is using .TGA file extension how different it is from PNG file ? what is the best way to apply here if I am using puppet pins ?

you should not use shape layers when applying puppet pins because puppet is an effect and shape layers render effects after transformations which causes all sorts of issues. read about it here: Animating with Puppet tools in After Effects

if you insist on using shapes, you would have to pre-compose the shape layer or layers in order to rasterize them, then puppet won't have these issues.

Puppet tool should work fine with PNG image as well. I dint understand the issue your facing while working with Puppet Tool..you make a video using screens capture and post the link to make us understand the challenge your facing or post some screenshots.
