Using Puppet Tool on a shifting roto'd video

Hi! Please see this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/j5cfi8h09g559u9/Ross%20Jumper%20Big.mp4?dl=0

I'm trying to make Ross in Friends' jumper very big for a dumb mashup I'm doing. I quickly roto'd out the jumper, Rachel, and Ross' head, and scaled up his jumper. I'd like to use the puppet tool to keep it in place with his hands and neck. The issue is that (obviously), the roto'd video of his jumper is moving, which messes up the puppet tool points. So you have these weird errors in the result (as per the Dropbox).

Can anyone help, or suggest another approach? I'd rather not use a still of the jumper if possible.

Thanks 🙂 Kieran

The Puppet Pin tool sets the mesh on the first frame. Nothing can move in the layer, and the layer/transform properties cannot be animated, or the effect will break. Puppet Pin is the wrong tool for this kind of project.

You need the part of the image you want to modify on a separate layer. That means Rotoscope. You probably also want to Motion Stabilize the jumper (clothing), and you probably need the head on a separate layer. Then you animate the distortion making and line up the head, make sure that the changes hide the unmodified parts of the background (Ross and his body), then put the motion back in the modified layers and composite them on top of the original footage. There is no practical way to do this on one layer or with one effect.
